Riley turns 4 months & Chris turns 30!

A lot has been happening around here!

Chris turned 30 and as you can probably see from the picture he celebrated hard :) We had friends over for sushi and Shut-The-Box one night, he went to a spring training game with some friends from here and his friend Dave from back home, his brother Mike flew in for the weekend and we got to see Chris' other friend Dave from Boston. It was great!

And there there is Riley who turned 4 months and decided playing with her feet would be tons of fun. Isn't it amazing how flexible babies are?

We took a big step last week and put together her crib. Up until now she had been sleeping in a beautiful cradle made by Chris' grandfather. I felt like she is growing up just a little bit. Now she takes all her naps and nighttime sleep in her big girl crib (as I like to call it). No more swinging for this baby (see below pictures...The Ways I Sleep).

Just like any baby, Riley has her rough days...mostly if she doesn't get a chance to nap. But when she is well-rested and fed, watch out! This kid has energy. She is so interested in everything that surrounds her. She laughs at Dazzle (our dog) and loves Jack Johnson (or pretty much any music). She likes when we take walks and carry her so she can see all the trees and those magical clouds (which are rare in the clear blue skies of Arizona). At the grocery store, I wear her in a front carrier and she talks up a storm reaching out for anything I pick up, grabbing at my pen as I try to check off the list. And she loves to entertain, flashing a big smile at anyone who gives her a look...

We had her four month check-up yesterday and there's not much to tell about it. She is doing well, weighing in at 12 1/2 lbs and she had to get some shots. Actually, she had to get an oral vaccine as well and she was sucking it down like it was candy. The nurse got a big kick out it b/c Riley didn't want to let go of the droplet thing. The nurse said most kids squirm and make a face, but Riley ate it right up...do you think that means she's hungry? Maybe it means she likes food, any kind of food and won't be nearly as picky as her mommy :)

Well, I will post some more updates soon...I will put a video or two (or five) in the next few days.

Hope this finds you all doing well!!!

A short update

Hi all,

I know it has been a while since I updated the blog (a month in fact)...I am going to start trying to update with pictures more frequently. I also want to put some more video up. Things are going well here. Riley is an active four month old...she definitely keeps us on our toes...and exhausted! My favorite thing about Riley right now is her laugh. Up until recently she would kind of try to laugh, but it really came out like a fake cough with a smile. A week or two ago she started with the deep belly laugh and it is just awesome. I am hoping to catch a short video clip of it to post. It is so rewarding to make her laugh I spend all day doing the most ridiculous things in hopes of inspiring it.

We'll post more updates real soon!

Just a couple more

Here's a cute Riley picture (this is so her expression!) and a cute one of Riley & Aunt Lesley!!!

My Mohawk Story

So the story goes like this...Daddy gave me a bath and when he brought me out to Mommy she said in her sweet voice "oh it looks like daddy forgot to brush your hair again." and then Daddy said "nope, I gave her that mohawk on purpose." We had a playdate the next day so Mommy put me in pink...you know so I didn't look too hardcore :)

The Ways I sleep

All the ways I sleep...yep, I actually fell asleep in my carseat (a real rarity) and in the swing I am wearing my baby straight jacket...err...Miracle Blanket

Visit with Grandma & Great Grandma

Chris' mom and Grandma came out in mid-January. I have been meaning to post some pictures from their visit for 2 months now! Here they are
